New build house
With this garden we were presented with a fairly high retaining wall with banked soil up to rear fence with no access to the area. The first job was to build a set of steps and remove a huge amount of top soil. A large shed was erected, paving laid to match existing slabs, a stainless steel sphere water feature installed, with remaining areas planted, membraned and gravelled. This area has a contemporary feel and matches the existing courtyard area laid by the builder.
The other half of the garden has a much more traditional feel. It is over-looked by the conservatory and has a large pond, stream and waterfall as its main features. The planting in this part of the garden is much more traditional with bark chippings laid as a weed suppressant. Two separate patio areas allow viewing of the pond from different angles.
