Resin Bound Gravel, or resin bound surfacing is a very different system to resin bonded gravel. In this system, the aggregate and the resin is mixed first, then trowelled down onto the tarmac or concrete base.
The aggregate size can vary anything between 3-10mm, with the surfacing itself laid between 15-50mm thick, depending on the base and future use of the area. Most drives are laid at 18-20mm tick, pathways at 10-12mm.
As the gravel is trowelled down, it lies flat, leaving a smooth surface when compared to resin bonded gravel. Kiln-dried sand is applied as the resin is curing to give the surface added grip.
This is a porous system and is ideal around trees, hedges or to comply with SUDS/permeable paving. An acrylic or polyurethane sealer coat can be applied to the surface, to make it non-porous, if required. It also enhances its colour, prevents further weathering and helps reduce maintenance.
We complete work all over the UK, from domestic drives, tree-pits, parking bays, pathways and car parks.
An approx. cost for this work is between £35-60 per sqm, depending on aggregate choice, location, size of area and laying depth.
Please email us your contact details, address, photos of the drive and rough measurements, and we will happily advise you on the best system to use, whether any preparation work is necessary and an approximate cost for the work.
