No matter what surface you choose for your driveway it is the gateway to your home. A great driveway can make your house more appealing and create valuable parking spaces for vehicles or caravans.
We can provide new driveways using numerous existing technologies and are always finding new methods to create beautiful driveways.
If you have an existing tarmac or concrete drive that is due for a face-lift, or even a new tarmac drive, then resin-bonded and resin bound gravel can completely transform your drive.
We use a variety of techniques to clean driveways and patios, depending on their size and surface type. High-pressure cleaners can be used as direct jets, or used with a rotary head. Once cleaned, block paving will need re-sanding with kiln-dried sand and slabs may need repointing.
Resin bonded surfacing, also known as surface dressing, is a combination of UV-stable polyurethane resin and natural aggregates, ranging from under 1mm-5mm in size. It must be laid onto a solid tarmac or concrete base.
The resin is laid onto the surface first, with the aggregate scattered on top. Once the resin has cured, all loose stone is brushed off to leave a gravel finish that is thoroughly bonded to the base. It has a rough, non-slip texture that is ideally used on drives, paths and ramps or steps
This system is laid at a depth of between 2-5mm thick depending on aggregate size. It is recommended that an acrylic or polyurethane sealer coat is applied to the surface to enhance its colour, prevent weathering and to reduce overall maintenance.
We complete work all over the UK, from domestic drives to parking bays and car parks.
An approx. cost for this work is between £30-40 per sqm, depending on aggregate choice, location and size of the area.
Please email us your contact details, address, photos of the drive and rough measurements, and we will happily advise you on the best system to use, whether any preparation work is necessary and an approximate cost for the work.
Resin Bound Gravel, or resin bound surfacing is a very different system to resin bonded gravel. In this system, the aggregate and the resin is mixed first, then trowelled down onto the tarmac or concrete base.
The main options for permeable driveways are block-paving, permeable tarmac, supported turf and gravel. We have illustrated some of the available products and how they work.
Grass-guard products come in a variety of styles and materials, from concrete to 100% recycled plastic. Laying of these products usually requires a free-draining hardcore base, overlain with compacted sand, the product and a sand/soil mix with grass seed overlain. These products can also be in-filled with gravel, giving a much easier surface to walk on or push things over, the gravel does not move or get stuck in vehicle tyres, and will always look perfect without the usual wear and tear associated with loose gravel drives.
Tarmaccing usually involves removing of approx. 8-inches depth of material, laying and compacting of 6-inches of MOT hardcore and 2-inches of tarmac (including base coat and top coat). Tarmac is hard wearing and durable, with very few disadvantage. Black is the common colour, but red, green and light brown colours are also available.
